Title: Data Engineering and Career Growth in Technology
Speaker: Doris (Xiaozhe) Yu (Facebook Data Engineer)
Abstract:
From helping cars drive themselves to helping Facebook tag you in photos, data science has attracted a lot of buzz recently. But, a data scientist is only as good as the data they have access to. Most giant technology companies store their data in variety of formats across databases and text files. This is where data engineers come in - they build pipelines that transform that data into formats that data scientists can use. Data engineers are just as important as data scientists, but tend to be less visible because they tend to be further down from the end product of the analysis.
In this Webinar, Doris Yu will discuss in detail about how Data Engineering works, what she wished someone would have advise her when she started her career over a decade ago. She will also discuss her real experience in working with Data Scientist/Product Manager/Business Partner for requirement, data model and data flow design, defining success metrics, measurement, etc.
